Giant 'cloaked' object in space ignites buzz

Mysterious planet-sized object spotted near mercury

Is a giant, cloaked spaceship orbiting around Mercury? That's been the speculation from some corners aftera camera onboard NASA's STEREO spacecraft caught a wave of electronically charged material shooting out from the sun and hitting Mercury.

Theorists have seized on the images captured from the "coronal mass ejection" (CME) last week as suggestive of alien life hanging out in our own cosmic backyard. Specifically, the solar flare washing over Mercury appears to hit another object of comparable size. "It's cylindrical on either side and has a shape in the middle. It definitely looks like a ship to me, and very obviously, it's cloaked," YouTube-user siniXster said in his video commentary on the footage, which has generated hundreds of thousands of views this week. Now, how this user was able to determine that the object was "obviously" a cloaked spaceship with no other natural explanation remains as much a mystery as the object itself.

Of course, there's another scientifically sanctioned explanation for the curious images, though we're not certain that skeptics and UFO enthusiasts such as SiniXster will endorse it. Natalie Wolchover of Life's Little Mysteries put the question to scientists in the solar physics branch at the United States Naval Research Laboratory (NRL). They're the people who analyze data from the Heliospheric Imager-1 (HI-1)--better known in this context as the camera that shot the footage in question.

Head NRL group scientist Russ Howard and lead ground systems engineer Nathan Rich say the mysterious object is in fact Mercury itself. And what we're seeing in the footage is the equivalent of Mercury's wake, "where the planet was on the previous day," as it travels through the solar system on its natural gravitational path:

To make the relatively faint glow of a coronal mass ejection stand out against the bright glare of space—caused by interplanetary dust and the stellar/galactic background—the NRL scientists must remove as much background light as possible. They explained that they determine what light is background light, and thus can be subtracted out, by calculating the average amount of light that entered each camera pixel on the day of the CME event and on the previous day. Light appearing in the pixels on both days is considered to be background light and is removed from the footage of the CME. The remaining light is then enhanced.

The analysts say the practice works even better when applied to far-off objects such as stars, which don't move much relative to the sun. But for moving objects, especially planets, the process is a little more complicated. And making matters even trickier is Mercury's staus as the closest planet to the sun.

Church bans interracial couples: Pine county church bans interracial couples banned from membership,
Gulnare Freewill Baptist Church has voted to ban interracial couples. The church says the ban will provide "greater unity among the church body." The interracial couples will, however, be welcomed at public services and funerals.

Church Bans Interracial Couples From Membership

Pine county church bans interracial couples banned from membership- A ZIMBABWEAN man has been banned from a church in the United States because he is BLACK.
Gulnare Freewill Baptist Church in Pike County, Kentucky, recently voted to ban interracial couples.
And when American national Stella Harville – who attended the church her whole life before moving to college – turned up with her fiancé, Ticha Chikuni, she felt “unwelcome”.
She has described the church’s ban on interracial marriages “the work of the devil”.

“Unfortunately, these convictions will remain in our society, but they crossed the line in revoking my fiancé and I's right to worship in a public place,” Harville said.

"I think part of me is still in shock and trying to process what's been going on the past few days. I really hope they overturn this."

The vote by members last Sunday was 9-6. It was taken after the service, which about 35 to 40 people attended. Harville said many people left or declined to vote.
Harville, a 24-year-old graduate student at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Indiana, called the vote "hurtful."

Amy Childs: I'm nothing like Katie Price

Amy Childs: I'm nothing like Katie Price

Amy Childs is having a bit of a moment. The 21-year-old Essex star, who rose to fame in reality soap The Only Way Is Essex, is launching a showbiz career of her own. She's opened her own beauty salon and now she's got a new fly-on-the-wall show It's All About Amy on Channel 5.

Shortly after she posed for the below promo shot (nothing like a bikini snap to get people watching!) we sat down with the young beautician-turned-TV star to find out what she makes of the countless Katie Price comparisons. After all, it could seem that her life is shaping up to be a bit similar to Katie's.

In the short video clip, Amy explains how she is not like Katie!
Katie rose to fame in the early 2000's as a glamour model and has since launched her one-of-a-kind brand on the UK. Obviously the main difference between the two Essex-born beauties is that Amy started her career on a TV show, and Jordan started hers on Page 3, and this is something Amy is keen to emphasise.

"We're totally different, I see it as we're nothing alike," Amy insisted. "She's done topless, I've never done topless.

"I've done a big beautician's opening and she's never had a salon."

However, we're sure Amy is hoping for just a smidgen of Katie's success. In the past decade, Katie has turned herself into a multi-millionaire, with an estimated fortune of £40m.

Amy's new show starts on Thursday at 10pm on Channel 5.

Pakistani Wife cooks husband Pakistan

Pakistani Wife cooks husband Pakistan

A Pakistani woman Zainab Bibi, 32, has been arrested after neighbors noticed a foul smell coming from her house. Her alleged crime: killing and then cooking her husband.
A Pakistani woman is being held on suspicion of killing her husband, cutting him up and trying to cook the pieces, Karachi police said Friday.

Zainab Bibi, 32, was arrested in connection with the murder Tuesday of her husband Ahmad Abbas, police said.

Her 22-year-old nephew, Zaheer Ahmed, is accused of helping Bibi stab Abbas to death and carve his body into small pieces.
Police said she wanted to cook her husband's body parts so she could dispose of them without being caught.

Neighbors raised the alert when they detected a foul odor in the neighborhood, police said.

Pakistan's domestic satellite channel ARY News spoke to Bibi in the police station where she is being held in the southern city of Karachi.

In an interview broadcast late Thursday, she claimed to have killed her husband because he wanted a physical relationship with their daughter -- and said she did not regret her actions.

"I killed my husband before he dared to touch my daughter," she told ARY News.

Loyal dog China grave:Loyal Dog Refuses to Leave Owner’s Grave in China,A loyal dog has held watch of its owner's grave in south of Beijing, China for more than a week. The dog has moved people of the Panjiatun village so much that they plan to build a kennel for him.
The dog belonged to owner Lao Pan, a single man, who died earlier this month aged 68.

After Pan's room was cleared the dog disappeared but villagers later found him by the grave of his owner. Reports have said that the dog has stayed by the side of the grave for more than seven days, refusing to leave.

Villagers have tried coaxing the dog away with food, after noticing that he was staying at the grave site unfed, and took the dog back to the village to give it some buns.

A concerned local tried to take the dog home with him, but to no avail.

"I gave him a steamed bun when he came to my home," he told the BBC.

But the dog took the buns and soon returned to the grave. Now villagers are regularly bringing food and water to the dog and plan to build him a kennel at the grave site.

The story is reminiscent of Edinburgh's Greyfriars Bobby, a Skye Terrier who remained at his master's grave for 14 years in Scotland in the mid-1800s.

Megyn Kelly pepper spray:Fox News' Megyn Kelly On Pepper Spray

Megyn Kelly pepper spray:Fox News' Megyn Kelly On Pepper Spray

Megyn Kelly pepper spray:Fox News' Megyn Kelly On Pepper Spray,Fox News commentator Megyn Kelly discussed the use of pepper spray by police at the Occupy Wall Street protest this weekend at the University of California Davis on "The O'Reilly Factor" late Monday. UC Davis Lt. John Pike sprayed non-violent protestors sitting on the ground with pepper spray in an act that has been questioned as perhaps being "excessive force."

"First of all, pepper spray," O'Reilly said to Kelly. "That just burns your eyes, right?"

"Right," Kelly replied. "I mean it's like a derivative of actual pepper. It's a food product, essentially."

Kelly's comment that pepper spray is little more than "a food product" has sparked outrage from protestors and commentators online. It has also led to the creation of an entirely new meme using the structure of her sentence followed by "essentially" on Reddit and QuickMeme.

The memes range in levels of offensiveness, but seek to mock Kelly's nonchalant attitude towards pepper spray despite evidence that it can cause serious health damages, including temporary blindness, gagging, uncontrollable coughing, throat, ear, eye and nose irritation as well as potential long term side effects, even death. The memes are sarcastic and aim to shed light on Kelly (and other's) dismissal of the dangers of pepper spray by calling into question (sarcastically) the dangers of other serious issues, like starvation, rape, domestic violence and human trafficking.

A football team without cheerleaders is like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on an onion roll -- it just doesn't make sense. The St. Ignace Saints, a high school team in Michigan, have no cheerleaders because of a lack of interest and a small student body of only 215 people. They do, however, have mothers who care.

Upset parents say dolls curse

Upset parents say dolls curse,Parents upset after children receive fetus dolls at Halloween event

Loganville, Ga. —Some parents who attended a trick-or-treat event in Loganville say they were offended by what some children got with their candy; a doll resembling a 12-week-old fetus.

"I think there's a time and place for everything," said resident John Ramsey. "But I don't think handing toy fetuses to 3-year-olds is an appropriate thing to do."

Ramsey said his 3-year-old grandson picked one up from a table along Main Street, where thousands of people took trick-or-treaters Halloween weekend.

"He wanted to know what it was and so the gentleman told him it was a 12-week-old fetus and this is what you looked like in your mother's belly," Ramsey said.

The man who handed out the dolls, or fetus models, is Joshua Edmonds, senior minister of 'Project: Ignite', which he describes as a Christian social justice organization.

He believes those who were offended misunderstood his message about life, and that he did not mention abortion during the event even though his organization is against abortion.

"We're still trying to understand where the offense is at," Edmonds said. "We think it's with the assumption that when we talk about life in the womb, it's about abortion. But the whole point of the event, point of the models, is we should respect life."

He says it would be no different from having an anti-bullying message for children, and added that he gave candy to all, but dolls only to those whose parents approved.

Edmonds said the complaints he has heard come from just a few of the thousands who attended the event, and that there were no complaints about his participation last year.
He says he apologizes to those who took offense and hopes to reach out to them.

But John Ramsey said many of the adults who considered the dolls inappropriate would likely agree with Edmonds' pro-life message, just not the time and place for the fetus models.

"Almost everyone I've talked to is pro-life, but they just don't think this is the proper venue to stage something like that," Ramsey said.

The event organizer told Channel 2 Action News that while she respects the opinions of others, she would welcome Edmonds and his organization back next year, but she's unsure whether she will be organizing next year's event.

PETA wants Turkey to change its name (Video)

PETA wants Turkey to change its name (Video)
PETA wants Turkey to change its name--Turkey, Texas - An animal rights group has made an unusual request to a Hall County town.

PETA wants Turkey, Texas to change its name to "Tofurky" for just one day.

If the town agrees to the name change on Thanksgiving Day, PETA will provide a vegan holiday feast. But everyone we talked with says no thanks to both offers.

It's a town named for the large number of wild turkeys in the area, which is why people living there couldn't believe their ears when they heard someone was asking them to change its name.

Laura Stewart says, "We don't want to change our name. It's been that way since my grandparents and great grandparents came here in 1892."

Dale Redd says, "There's a sign you will see at most rest stops that says don't mess with Texas. Our new saying is don't mess with Turkey, Texas."

PETA made the request yesterday in a letter to Mayor Pat Carson, in an effort to keep people from eating turkey on Thanksgiving and to promote awareness about the cruelty to these birds.

But the people in Turkey say changing the name wouldn't accomplish any of that.

Stewart explains, "We don't sit around killing all the turkeys. I don't see any point in it at all."

Carol Redd says, "They're just wanting a lot of attention in my opinion, and this was one way of getting it."

In this area Turkey is more than just a name, it's a way of life because these birds bring big business.

Dale Redd says, "Part of our living is made from hunters and turkey memorabilia because there are turkeys here."

The mayor couldn't visit with us on camera today, but he says the town's name will not be changing.

As for the incentive of getting a tofurky holiday dinner, this farming, ranching and hunting community says there's no way they're passing on the real thing this Thanksgiving.

Carol Redd says, "I would not ever want that. I would probably tell them to take it back."

Perhaps the biggest question today was why now, when the town has had the name for so long. But they don't plan to find out because the mayor says he will not be responding to this request at all.

Surprising celebrity endorsements

Surprising Celebrity Crazy Endorsements

Politicians, authors, rockers and rappers have earned extra cash by pitching products as varied as pantyhose, metal detectors and coffins. On each page, click the links to find out who they are.
Celebrity endorsements are as profitable as they are plentiful and these days, it seems as if eveyone's in on the action.

While some promotional deals are obvious fits, like Nicki Minaj's recent 'Pink Friday' lipstick collaboration with MAC, there are many that leave us scratching our heads.

Even for Hollywood's reigning queens of self-promotion, the Kardashian sisters, some products seem like ridiculous choices.  Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian have moved past their prepaid credit card fiasco with grace, style and, most surprisingly of all, a line of Kardashian Silly Bandz.

What's far more surprising than endorsement-happy reality stars hawking products for a quick buck (or a few million of them), is when legitimate actors and performers lend their famous names and faces to products that bring them far more ridicule than respect.

Jamie Lee Curtis for Activia
Hold your hats, TV watchers, because we're about to drop some serious wisdom on you: At one point in time, Jamie Lee Curtis' name was not synonymous with digestive regularity. Hard to believe, we know, but it's true. There was a time when she was not only an actress, but Hollywood royalty, a teen slasher movie queen, and a bona fide hottie. The woman defeated Michael Myers in five separate installments of 'Halloween,' for gosh sake. While Activia may have provided a financial boost to her lagging career, the striptease scene in 'True Lies' will just never be the same.

Sofia Coppola Canned Champagne
Sofia Coppola is well-respected. Sofia Coppola is elegant. Sofia Coppola makes wine you drink with a straw? The writer-director's father, directing legend Francis Ford Coppola, owns a popular winery from which his daughter's eponymous beverage was born. Pluses: Cute packaging, fun idea, won't spill while you're jogging. Cons: Sophistication-wise, canned wine is about a half-step up from chugging Franzia right from the box.

Megan Mullally for I Can't Believe It's Not Butter
Megan Mullallly is one funny woman, as evidenced by everything from guest appearances on 'Parks and Recreation' to her longtime role as boozy socialite Karen Walker on 'Will and Grace.' So why is she getting down disco-style with a tub of fake butter in the refrigerator aisle? Come on, 'Will and Grace' has only been off the air for five years; you couldn't possibly have spent that money already.

Lil Jon for CRUNK Energy Drink
OK, Mr. Jon, we get it. You like to get crunk. You like to say "crunk." You like to provide your enthusiastic hyping skills to other peoples' songs. The thing is, we're pretty sure pomegranate-flavored energy beverages aren't the only things you're sipping out of that pimp chalice you seem so fond of. Oh, and by the way, there's already a crunk energy drink, it's called Four Loko, and, unlike your product, it lives up to its name.

Claire Danes for Latisse
Claire Danes is serious about two things: her acting career and long eyelashes. The 'Temple Grandin' star and multiple Golden Globe winner, has taken a cue from another former teen star when it comes to her endorsement deals. Danes signed on as the face of Latisse, an eyelash growth product, in 2010, a job also held by Brooke Shields. Side effects include irritation, iris darkening and weirding out your fan base.

Bret Michaels Weaves
Our minds were blown when we realized this deal hadn't been inked yet. Seriously, the golden glory coming out from under that guy's bandana makes Beyonce's hair people seem like amateurs, and we want in on the action. For the record, the fact that we've written it here entitles us to a solid 50 percent of the profits.

Hilary Duff Tooth Whitening
Sure, the former 'Lizzie McGuire' star may have gone overboard when she tried out tooth veneers for the first time, but we can't say we minded the look. Maybe not everyone likes a girl with a mouth full of piano keys, but we're chomping at the bit for teeth even a fraction as fabulous as Duff's pearly whites.

Justin Bieber Pheromones
Don't believe what 'Skins' tells you. Getting action as a teenager can be darn hard, unless you're Justin Bieber, that is. We don't know if it's the songs, the haircut or that purple hoodie, but the Biebs' unparalleled chick magnetism could get Queen Elizabeth to throw her underpants onstage.

Heidi Klum Workplace Fire-o-Matic
Getting fired sucks. Packing up your desk for what may be an endless period of depression and poverty really sucks. Being the guy firing someone with a family and kids isn't a day at the beach either. Why be the bad guy, delivering the crushing blow yourself, when you could have adorable Heidi Klum say "auf Wiedersehen" for you? The woman makes goodbye so loveable, you'd think it was a gift.

Topless woman high-speed chase

Erin Holdsworth Arrested Semi-Naked After 120 MPH High-Speed Chase

Topless high-speed chase,When: Oct. 11, 2011,Bainbridge

The story: A 28-year-old woman is accused of leading cops on a high-speed chase wearing not much more than a G-string. Get the latest news on her case. What’s better than a high-speed chase? How about a topless woman and a high-speed chase? Yeah, that’s better. But what about a topless woman leading a high-speed chase? That’s the ultimate.

And that’s exactly what I have video of below. A topless woman led cops on a high-speed chase. While she was eventually pulled over and arrested, the topless woman no doubt left a great memory for all of us to enjoy.

The drunk topless woman obviously had one (or ten) too many adult beverages. When she stumbled out of the car, she could hardly walk. I don’t even know if she knew that she was topless … which made it even hotter.

The topless woman video also includes a scene of her in the backseat of the cop car. Let’s just say she’s a very fiery woman. It would be unwise to cross her.

Here is the topless woman high-speed chase video:

Drunk, topless woman, Erin B. Holdsworth arrested after leading police on 128 mph car chase in Ohio

Erin Holdsworth, a 28-year-old woman from Hiram, Ohio, was recently arrested semi-naked by police for drunk driving after a high-speed chase in excess of 120 mph.
Around 4 a.m., an Ohio officer was patrolling Route 422 in Bainbridge when he clocked Holdsworth driving her 2002 Mazda 626 at nearly twice the 65 mph speed limit. The officer attempted to make a traffic stop but Holdsworth refused to comply, according to Bainbridge Police Chief Jon Bokovitz.

"There was a pursuit of about 7 miles," Bokovitz told The Huffington Post. "An officer from the [Geauga County] Sheriff's Office was in the area, and he put down stop sticks."

Both of the left tires on Holdsworth's vehicle were punctured by metal barbs on the tire-deflation device, forcing her to pull her disabled vehicle over to the side of the road. It was at that point that the routine stop took a bizarre turn.

Holdsworth stepped out of her car semi-naked with sneakers on, waving her hands in the air.

"Well, she got out of her car on her own and she had on just a white thong and a fishnet top that was completely see-through," Bokovitz said. He added, "She was obviously under the influence. She was not very forthcoming on where she was coming from, what she was doing or why she was dressed the way she was."

Holdsworth allegedly refused to submit to a blood alcohol test, and Bokovitz said she appeared to be too inebriated for officers to conduct a field sobriety test with her.

"She was so unsure on her feet that she probably would have fell [sic] and hurt herself," the chief said.

Despite refusing the test, Holdsworth was calm and compliant with the arresting officer. It was not until she got in the back of the patrol car that she allegedly became agitated, according to police. She flew into a rage, screaming and kicking the cruiser's back window, even beating her head against the other windows.

Holdsworth was eventually brought under control and charged in Chardon Municipal Court with one count each of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, refusing a blood alcohol content test, fleeing and eluding, criminal damaging, driving under a suspended license, speeding and reckless operation.

Holdsworth has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Authorities did not file any charges in regard to Holdsworth's revealing clothing -- or lack thereof -- though.

"In the state of Ohio [public nudity] has to be a willful wanton act, which in this case, she wasn't really walking around or displaying herself to the public," Bokovitz said.

Holdsworth has since been freed from the Geauga County Safety Center and is due back in court on Nov. 2.

"It is a unique case," Bokovitz said. "We don't know where she was in the state of dress she was in. It is kind of weird but you see a lot of stuff out here doing this job."
