'Jersey Shore' sets return date

'Jersey Shore' sets return date

"Jersey Shore" is returning. (Do some say the Jersey Shore fake show is fake?) The reality TV series about guidos and guidettes will start its fifth season on Jan. 5, 2012  they'll be Seaside Heights, N.J.

MTV brought a little warmth to the hearts of those struggling over news that Kim Kardashian’s marriage is kaput by telling the world Wednesday that the new season of “Jersey Shore” will start Jan. 5.

The fifth season of the popular series built around a group of folks living together, partying, and, yes, occassionally fighting will kick off at 10 p.m. on Jan. 5.

This time around, the cast and crew will be back in Seaside Heights, N.J., where the show was filmed earlier this year. The season follows the fourth outing, which had them living together in Florence, Italy.

“Jersey Shore” is produced by SallyAnn Salsano, and stars Mike (The Situation) Sorrentino, Jennifer (JWoww) Farley, Nicole (Snooki) Polizzi, Paul (Pauly D) Delvecchio, Sammi Giancola, Vinnie Guadagnino, Deena Nicole Cortese and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro.

“Jersey Shore” is the top series in MTV history. The fourth season averaged 9.4 million viewers each week, with the season premiere hitting a record 10.5 million people.

Word of the “Jersey Shore” launch date comes as E! tries to figure out how to deal with the demise of Kardashian’s 72-day marriage to basketball star Kris Humphries.
