Fans won’t have to wait too much longer for the much ballyhooed duet featuring Cher and Lady Gaga. Entertainment Weekly’s online edition reported Friday that the release date for the single, reportedly titled “The Greatest Thing,” will be in September. Cher tweeted the same date when pressed by fans online. Written by Gaga and producer RedOne, the song will be the first single of Cher’s upcoming studio album — the 26th of her career. No release date has been set for the album.
The two music divas were first united in public at last year’s MTV Video Music Awards, where Cher presented Gaga with the award for video of the year.
This year’s VMAs will be handed out Sunday night in Los Angeles, and it was announced that Gaga will perform the show’s opening musical number.
