Roy Kronk sues Casey Anthony

Roy Kronk sues Casey Anthony

Roy Kronk, man who found Caylee’s body in Florida, sues Casey Anthony for defamation, Casey Anthony is being sued for defamation by the man who discovered her 2-year-old daughter's body.

In a lawsuit filed Wednesday, Roy Kronk accuses the Florida woman and and her lawyers of slanderously trying to shift the blame for Caylee Anthony's tragic death onto him, Reuters reported.

Kronk, a former meter reader, discovered Caylee's remains in the woods near Anthony's home in December 2008.

The suit accuses Anthony of making a variety of slanderous statements, including claims that he abducted the child, murdered her and placed the body outside her home, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Anthony initially claimed her daughter had been kidnapped, though her lawyer later said in court that she knew the child had drowned in the family pool. Anthony was acquitted of murder in July before a skeptical nation.

In September, Kronk sued the National Enquirer for $15 million over a story headlined "Meter reader killed Caylee" — with "Casey Anthony says" in smaller print below.

The Enquirer argued that it simply reported Anthony's claims against Kronk and gave them context.

"We state that Anthony's allegations were not supported by police reports or prior convictions," Mark Antonello, general counsel for the Enquirer's publisher, told the Orlando Sentinel in September.

Although Anthony was found not guilty in her daughter's death, she was convicted of providing false information to the authorities and of three other minor charges.

Zenaida Gonzalez, who has the same name as the nanny Anthony identified as one of the possible kidnappers, is also suing her for defamation. Texas EquuSearch filed suit to recover the $1 million the company says it spent conducting a five-month search for Caylee.
